Christian de la Villehuchet Named New “Goodfather” of ACT Care Awards

Christian de la Villehuchet Takes the Torch to Drive Communication for Positive Change

The ACT Care Awards, celebrating advertising excellence in promoting care for people and the environment, has announced Christian de la Villehuchet as its new “Goodfather.”

Christian succeeds Dita Charanzová, former Vice President of the European Parliament, who held the title of “Godmother” for an impressive 15 years. During her tenure, Charanzová became a guiding figure for the awards, combining rigour, passion, and political expertise to consistently celebrate campaigns with strong social and environmental values.

The passing of the torch marks a significant moment for the ACT Care Awards, symbolising both continuity and renewal. Christian de la Villehuchet is widely respected for his leadership in communication and sustainable advocacy, bringing strategic vision, creative insight, and a deep commitment to social responsibility to the awards. He is set to champion campaigns that drive positive change while building on the legacy of excellence established by his predecessor.

" Communication is the only business that can change both advertisers’ agenda and consumer behaviours. In a positive way. The ACT Care Awards have celebrated this role since they were created 18 years ago by recognising the true value of communication shaping the world to a slightly better place. Having partnered with ACT Responsible for several years, I am honoured to be the Godfather of the awards”

Organised by ACT Responsible, the ACT Care Awards were established in 2008 in collaboration with the EACA and in partnership with the European Parliament. The awards celebrate creative campaigns that drive positive social and environmental change, recognising efforts across public health, environmental sustainability, social justice, human rights, public safety, homelessness, domestic violence, and education.

“For several years, Christian has been a strong advocate of our work at ACT Responsible. Under his leadership, the awards returned to the EACA in 2023, and his unwavering support and vision have given new impetus to the ACT Care Awards. It was only natural to ask him to become the new ‘Godfather’ after all he has already done, and we are truly honoured he has accepted”

With this nomination, the ACT Care Awards reaffirm their mission to showing how the advertising industry can drive meaningful change, encourage dialogue, share best practices, and accelerate behavioural change on some of the most pressing global issues of our time.

The next edition of the ACT Care Awards will be held in Brussels on 10 December 2025, during the EACA Effie Europe Day.
