“Call Glenn” by VML Belgium and “Rights Against the Right” by Jung von Matt AG are both honoured by the EpIca Responsibility Grand Prix.
The Responsibility Grand Prix at the 2024 Epica Awards celebrated outstanding campaigns dedicated to social good, awarding the honor jointly to two impactful initiatives: “Call Glenn” by VML Belgium for Child Focus, and “Rights Against the Right” by Jung von Matt AG for Laut gegen Nazis e.V. in Germany.
“Call Glenn”: Advocating for Online Protection
VML Belgium’s “Call Glenn” campaign created a powerful petition demanding online protection for minors. Participants could “sign” by calling a phone number belonging to Glenn, a 15-year-old who tragically took his life after intimate photos of him were shared online without consent. The campaign’s emotional resonance and societal impact led Belgian lawmakers to take legislative action, addressing the urgent need to protect minors from the perils of the digital world.
“Rights Against the Right”: A Legal Blow to Extremism
Jung von Matt AG’s “Rights Against the Right” campaign creatively used trademark law to disrupt funding for Nazi supporters in Germany. This initiative turned legal tools into instruments of social justice, cutting off financial streams that fueled hate groups.
Celebrating Purpose-Driven Advertising
For the seventh consecutive year, the Epica Awards partnered with ACT Responsible to recognize campaigns that champion social causes.
